GRAND RAPIDS (March 2, 2021) The Grand Rapids Public Library’s Board of Library Commissioners is seeking candidates to fill the seat of Kent Sparks, who resigned in December.
To be considered for the position, interested parties should be 18 years of age or older and a resident of the City of Grand Rapids. Applications are available online at www.grpl.org/board and are due by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
The appointed board member will fulfill Sparks’s term until the next non-partisan election in 2022, at which time they may choose to run for the seat for the remainder of his term (2024).
A publicly elected Board of Library Commissioners governs the Grand Rapids Public Library. The seven Commissioners are elected to 6-year terms. Board meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month at 5:15 p.m. and are open to the public. The Grand Rapids Public Library inspires opportunity, connection, and innovation.
